In the spirit of the season, this month’s theme is Winter Holidays.

I'll start things off once again if that's OK!

A few years ago, I was ale to borrow a friends fish-eye lens around the holidays, and had a really fun time with it for a few days. Decided to head out and shoot the City and County building in downtown Denver, and it really lent itself to fun with a fish-eye!

Happy Holidays everyone!!

I love that shot Brent! Fabulous feel to it...

I took this image the Blossoms of Light exhibition at the Denver Botanic Gardens last Thursday. It's not terrific, but it's OK for hand-held at f/4, 1/20th, and 105mm. -Arlen

One more... (What's the color temp of blue LED lights?)
Posted by Grant Collier on December 3, 2007 at 2:37 PM
Cool idea for a shot, Arlen. It looks like a Hubble telescope pic.

I'm not sure if I'm required to have Xmas lights for this theme, but you can think of this as lots of large Xmas trees. I took this shot a couple days ago along Wolf Creek Pass during the big snowstorm. I had to shoot out my car window cause the high winds and heavy snow made shooting outside my car almost impossible.

OK, Only one more. Back to my B/W roots. This one is from Clear Creek Canyon. Many of you who have been up the road will probably recognize this tree as it really stands out quite dramatically (Les gets to see it every day!! ) .

Brent, unique perspective to start things out.

Arlen, perfect execution and conception on those tree lights!

I do believe that tree looks familiar, Richie! (Haven't been seeing it as much lately - Golden Gate Canyon is quicker if you know the curves well...) And I love what the B&W does for St. Jeromes.

I don't know what to say about your choice, Pam...

Mt Ypsilon, Rocky Mountain National Park

I may use this shot as a Christmas card

A christmas card image I've used ...

Jesse,

This is another excellent winter shot, masterfully composed! You are really getting me to think I need to get out more this winter. I must admit after seeing your images from the snow cave and other winter photo trips I thought you were either masochistic a little crazy or possibly both. LOL... :jump:

But your unique winter vantage points definitely take Mtn. winter photography to the next level. I guess I need to invest in some snowshoes.

I made this holiday card for this season using an older photograph. In Europe, we always say PF on the card. That means - Happy New Year.

One of my favorites from RMNP. :wavey:

Fantastic images! I have been travelling sooo much that I have not had a chance to post anything here or in any of the other topics.

Brent – that is a really cool composition! Now if we just had a fisheye lens for a LF Camera.

Rich – I love that shot! A classic!

Great work, everyone. :toast:

Great images everyone.

Rich, nice use of B&W.

Here's one of 16th street mall that I took last year.

And here's another one...

I love playing in the snow with a macro lens and a small gold reflector. This is a shot from this afternoon with a 105mm macro lens on the D80. I used a small gold reflector to throw some nice light on to beautiful fluffy snow in the shade.

Well, not quite on par with Jesse's pine/snow shot. I had to remove some power lines which is always a problem shooting into Cheyenne Canyon. But like the title of Todd's recent post, this was an epic day.

And I meant to comment earlier. I really like that snowflake macro Mark.

Wonderful shots here. Just thought I'd add one with a few potential Christmas trees accompanied by some of mother nature's twinkling lights (courtesy of some blowing snow). Taken at the top of the Wolf Creek ski area.

Great shots everyone! This is one of my fav seasonal shots (probably since print sales gave me more beer $ ) I took it last New Years just after the blizzard socked the Plains--this is 'downtown' La Junta. The coolest/spookiest thing was hearing 'Silent Night" play over outdoor speakers as i took this shot.

Here's an image from Fossil Creek Reservoir in Fort Collins that I've used for a Christmas card. This really needs a good drum scan for the delicate detail, but this will have to do for now.

great shot rick!
