Thanks to Tim B for posting instructions on the Orton technique recently. Tonight I was processing a shot of sweetgum leaves among the boulders below Cedar Falls at Petit Jean, taken November 11. I tried out Tim's default Orton settings and it did wonders for a mediocre shot. Comments/critiques are encouraged, and Thanks for looking.

Great shot John! Great colors! I don't have a single nit-pic on this one. I think its the mood that really sets this one apart.

I think this is really great, John - the soft glow of light on the rocks and the luminescence of the leaves really makes this picture stand out. Nice job!

Oooo, that's nice, John! Great filtered light, and beautiful composition. The Orton technique really worked well with this.

John, Great effect and colors, I really need to try this on some shots. This makes the colors really neat.

The sweet gum leaves aren't the only thing sweet about this image. That is a really sweet arrangement of boulders, too. And not only are the leaves beautiful in their own right, they also help define the borders of the boulders and help emphasize the patterns in their arrangement.

Great eye on this one John! I love how the splashes of color, light and boulders have come together in this shot. Well done!
