Here's a shot from Petit Jean that was taken in early November. Because of the compression loss (50%) inherent to 4x5 format, there is not much detail shown here. I'm a little concerned about the top portion being a little too bright, so I am looking for other opinions. Thanks for any thoughts/comments.

Bill, I like this. It may be tad bright in the upper portion. My eye is initially drawn to the top but then the darker water makes me follow the whole shot from top to bottom. It works for me. I am not sure I would change anything. Just my two cents.

Bill excellent image. l Love all the colors in the trees and leaves on ground.

I love this photo. I'm sure to come back to view this over and over again. It's rare that I see a photo that conveys the scale of giant trees. On my good monitor, the top portion is just a bit more "washed out? / has less contrast" than the rest, but I don't know if I would have noticed if I wasn't looking for it.
Bill, I agree with what is being said. Initially it seems a bit distracting when I am LOOKING for it, but once my eye works down the scene, I don't keep reverting back to the top. Great shot IMO.

I think I like this, Bill - though the image undoubtedly suffers more from the small web format than others.

So if everyone thinks the top is too bright (and you do too), why don't you just darken the top, and while you are at it lighten up the foreground and center rocks a little bit - that would really bring this image to life.

OK, I decided to just crop the top of the bluff because the color looked a little off , and did not bring much interest to the photograph anyway. Plus, I decided I liked the fg rocks for more depth. AND, I lightened everything a tad, and dodged the rocks and fg a bit. Better?

Yes, I think all the changes were improvements, although the original looked pretty good to me as well.
Bill, I do like the changes. The rocks in the FG help to enhance the line created by the edge of the pool of water. I also think it balances the overall weight of the photo better to have a little more FG. Well thought out changes IMO.

Great shot Bill. I do like what you've done with the changes to the repost ... very nice!

I like what you have done with the repost, Love the colors and the curve along the pool that leads back to the rocks. Nice work with this one.
