This is a photograph of Yosemite falls I took back in February on a school field trip. I like the sky and the texture of the rock and I thought that black and white would suit it well. One thing, though, that I think I will work on is bringing back a little bit of detail in the black area to the left of the falls. What do you think? Thanks for looking!

Beautiful shot! Yosemite Falls looks great year round. I like the B+W rendition and the nice clouds. Good job.

Looks good to me Khristian. You've kept great detail in the water. I very much appreciate the off-center composition. The silhouetted trees look a little dark.

Great looking image. I like the billowy look of the falls.

The blacks are fine because the contrast of the cliff can really be that harsh, especially the water staining behind the falls. I do feel its *too* off centered, though. If the focus of the image is the falls, then the falls need to be in a more prominent position, otherwise it feels a bit lopsided.

I am impressed with the detail in this shot and the choice of black and white. This is my first post, so forgive me if I'm overstepping a rule, but I am curious as to how you brought out so much detail in rock in this photo.

Nice angled lighting here, Kristian. Those falls are looking great with your choice of stop-action shutter too. I agree with Brian that I'd like to see the falls just a touch more prominent.
Jay: The detail is from the strong contrast that the photograph has which brings it out more.
I think I also agree now about the composition and that it would look a better if the falls were centered....the off centered falls kind of throws of the balance of the image...so thanks for helping me realize that...ill have to process some of the centered shots I have.
Centered or not, the b&w really brings out the timeless power of the falls. This is a really strong image!

Khristian:
I think the off center falls is fine, although I would like to see where all that water goes, i.e., show some of the huge talus field at bottom. Re: dark shadow to L of falls: No problem; detail in water is far more important, and you captured it well.
