I am getting a chance to fly to Seattle in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if I should extend my stay by a few days to go out for a shoot. How are the conditions at this time of the year? Is it worth my while? (Note that I live in Canada, so the cold is not an obstacle )
Would anyone be interested in a mini get together.
Your input is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Younes

Let's see, we had 3.5 inches of rain yesterday, 4 inches of snow last Saturday, and the sun is out now. That pretty much sums up what could happen this time of year. Best advice would be to come prepared for anything and expect anything.
As far as coast vs. Cascades you really can't go wrong either way. Again, the weather will play a big roll in what you are able to accomplish. Depending on how long you plan on staying you may have time to do some of both. The drive from Rainier to Second Beach, for example, can be done relatively easily in a day.
If you need advice on specific places to visit let us know a couple of days before you leave and we should be able to be a little more helpful as we will have a better idea of what conditions to expect.
Thanks Mark, that's a bit what I was afraid to hear :).
I should may be add some specific details...I was in second beach/rialto beach last October..and of course got pissed on the whole time I was there...I also do know that right now is not the best time of year. The reason I asked was to see if there is a reasonable chance to get some decent weather. My stay can be as short as 4 days but as long as 10...but if the consensus is that there is only about a 10% chance to get nice weather then I might cut it as short as possible.
Great shots to be had in and around storms depending how adventurous you are and how durable your equipment is. I'm one of the less adventurous when it comes to being out in storms, but check out some of the shots others post on on this forum. Have some predetermined destinations in mind and be prepared to go at the drop of a hat. Even if you shoot from the car, you'll get some good shots. Depending on when you get here, check with WSDOT re: area road conditions. Lots of damage here recently. And post to us when you're here; more helpful advice specific to local areas can be given then. Best of luck and I hope you enjoy your stay.

My limited experience is that it depends on what you are interested in shooting too. For example, waterfalls and streams are somewhat rain resistant. Fog can really improve some scenes. For open vistas, sunrise/sunset, etc., it's a real roll of the dice.
