The Temple
I was researhing local areas on the 'net when i came across this 1880 phot of 'The Temple' a rock formation near Canon City. Petroglyphs attest to its use as an ancient ceremonila site. Unfortunately, much grafitti mars the rocks, including some morons who must have actually aid-climbed the rocks to put their grafitti on the overhanging portion of the shallow cave. Imbeciles  Some say the area is haunted. Don't know, but it was pretty cool and a blast locating (BLM directions were no good, i had to ask some guys in a pick-up.
I decided in the spirit of the 19th century photo to go B&W.

I especially like that second one, looks like southern Utah. I haven't hiked to the Temple, but I've been up farther and hiked to The Tights (I loathe that name), up Grape Creek. Cool area, especially in April, when I need to shake off some cobwebs.
