A different sort of Larch pic
No golden needles in this image - just dead wood! I shot these larch trunks on a breezy, overcast day in late Autumn. We had made the grunt up to the Larch Lakes from the Entiat River to see the fall colors one last time. Most of the tamarack needles had blown off, but there were plenty of interesting things to see anyway. We traversed to Cow Creek Meadows and Myrtle Lake which was pretty cool; we had never been there before.

Hand-held with a Sony V1 about 3 years ago.

There are some cool things going on in the top of this frame--the water ripples and the log ending on that reflected sun 'hole'. I like the light trunks on the dark water too. The image as a whole isn't capturing me though--perhaps I just like my larch with needles! The composition is balanced fine... I think it's just the subject that doesn't grab me much.

Ditto, Brian said exactly what I would say (only better of course  ). This would make a great anchor into a distant subject, but doesn't grab me strongly by itself.

Sorry Marc, the image is just not doing much for me.
