One of my fall pictures this last fall from a Portland park...

Ned, it is really nice to see new work from you such as this. I find this image to be really sweet, especially the way the dark contrasty branches cut thorugh the frame against the beautiful yellow fall colors. This is just great...
Like Rick mentioned, the branches cutting through that sea of yellow is sweet. I really like the DOF isolating the near leaves from the bg ones, but there isn't quite enough contrast there for my taste. If the fg were lit while the bg was in shadow or something, then there would be more definition to the leaves. Them er' my thoughts to take or leave...

Finding a dense enough patch to get solid vegetation isn't always easy. In addition, I agree with the comments on the branches.

Great piece Ned. I can feel the wonderful days of fall just looking at this! The only nit I have is the little tad of orange/yellow on the right side about 1/3 way down. Normally that would not even be noticed but since it's such clear yellow on all the rest of the image this piece stands out to me. I would just clone it out.
Terrific find, Ned. Nice job. Very cheery, too, in these grey days.

Ned: In terms of composition the graphic pattern of the dark branches interspersed with the yellow-on-yellow study of leaves is effective. I love all the yellow.
I assume this was a cloudy day and thus no opportunity for backlit/sidelit shots?

As a straight up photograph, it's pretty nice; as an abstract, maybe displayed with a couple of complimentary images, this would be very cool.
