More digging through the archives as I work on selecting images for the new website.
This was taken in 05 while backpacking Kesugi Ridge trail at Denali SP, not to be confused with Denali NP which is basically next door. We got very lucky with little rain over the 3 day trip. The prior two weeks had been rain every day. An amazing place to backpack if you have not been there. When the weather is good the view from the ridge is stellar. I am sure I will be back.
All thoughts on the image appreciated as well. I like it for many pieces that it does have but it's missing any decent anchor in the FG which kind of bothers me.

What a bold and dramatic sky. I think you're right on the anchor Adrian, especially with the trail being placed towards the edge. If the trail led into the photo as more of a diagonal, I think the nice open green would have worked well even without an anchor.

Adrian: Great drama in the sky, to be sure. Makes me want to visit!
I don't know what to tell you about the FG. Try cloning out the small half-hidden stone that is slightly above the lower left. That, plus some dodging or burning on the near part of the trail may help.
Another idea is to slightly saturate and brighten the swath of yellowish tundra that swooshes in from center-right and moves across the image towards the trail on the left. Then darken the trail to reduce its visual prominence. Just a thought...

I'm liking the dramatic sky, the light rays, the distant view and the splash of color from the stream on the left. The foreground is taking up a lot of real estate, but not contributing much to the image as a whole - so my eye gets pushed to the edges where there is interest, and then out of the frame.
I think if the trail had been highlighted, that would have been cool, pulling me through the scene and leaving me at the ridge to take in the distant scene. Maybe burning in the right side of the foreground and dodging the trail would create a focal point and pull the viewer in.
