Got this a few days ago. A bit colder than today. Raining here so entertaining myself with editing photos.

Larry,

Nice shot. I'd love to see a 100 percent crop of the face area. Curious about noise at 1600 on the new camera.

Domenic,

Thanks.

I just checked the NEF, no noise in the black feathers that I can see using CaptureNX at 100%. I don't know how to do a 100% crop and save as a jpg and then get it posted without messing it up., sorry.

The D300 does really well up to 2400, maybe a bit higher from what I am seeing.

Wow! I'd say that was excellent at 1600! Good stuff all around Larry. :wavey:

Thanks Wayne. High ISO is very helpful on gray days.

Fantastic shot Larry! That high an ISO and no noise, very handy to have on days like this.

Larry the low noise at 1600 technology is great, but that can't capture a beautiful shot like this. You did! I am not a birder yet but I love this one.

Love the bright color. Great shot overall! I wonder what it would look like without the yellow leaf?

Thanks David, Gale, Laurie and Jason.
Laurie, I kind of liked the leaf and it's color in the photo. And it was there.
Jason, always pleased to help others spend their $$$. :wavey:
Gale, if you think this is good high ISO, check out what the D3 will do. Unbelievable!

I too love this picture of one of my favorite common birds. Whenever I hear their specific chirp I have to stop and look around for it. Let's not overlook their beauty in all the techno stuff. I just got my D300. I'll try the high ISO for all the really dreary days we've been having in the Houston/Galveston area.

Thanks Mary. They are pretty birds, right.

You will really like the D300. Enjoy!
