Great Horned Owl (C) - (Bubo virginianus)
Thought I would pop this up, as I am going through my 'Owl phase' and it is a bit of a blustery day in the hundred acre wood. Just love the colours of the BG which compliment the bright yellow of his eyes IMHO. Never found what he was staring at!

MKII with 70-200 (2.8)

Love the perch and the bg is spot on,cant decide on the pose though, think I would of prefered it looking at the camera, but thats a personal nit.Great detail in the bird too,

Stu.

I saw one of these in the wild on my recent trip to the states-cracking bird-great colours but agree with Stuart re the pose and maybe a tad more room would be nice

Sorry Dave, can't do much on the room as that's full frame, but very jealous to hear you have seen it in the wild! Stu, guess that is one of my 'styles' if I have one and that is get the animal to look directly down the barrel, however I think everyone try's that. I just wanted to post a different pose. David funny you mentioned 'giraffe' as I have posted something elsewhere on that very same animal

Thanks guys :toast:

Hi Stephen,

A different and interesting pose. I like the BG and the perch. The whole image to me looks VERY VERY slighty dark, I am aware it was probably taken in woodland, but feel the image just needs lifting a little.

Regards

Rob

Looks glorious from here Steve :toast:

Agree with others about the head but what can you do, and perhaps as Dave said, a tad more room all round.

Thanks guys, is that with the new monitor andy or did you fix it with the delicate touch of a sledge hammer? :jump:

For me I would like to see more of the face but its still a very nice looking image of a great bird, and its slightly different. :toast:

When you've got claws like this you can look down your beak at people. Nicely lit Steve :toast:
