What a great day to be out and about....I know this is another tourist spot but it was my first time here....I arrived early to not be bothered by the "tourists".....
While walking around the grounds of the lodge I smelled something cooking so I decided to make the most of my experience and went inside to a warm fire (the temp outside was a chilly 26 degrees) and a great breakfast in the dinning room....the best $21.00 ever spent on Huveros Rancheros. I was the only person eating breakfast and Lisa, my server, was overly friendly at that hour of the day. I had the best view to watch the falls, actually the fog that was socked in. I finished my breakfast and around 8:15am I headed out, waiting in the cold as the sun decided to try and break through the fog and mist of the falls.....
I am thinking this is not too bad for a first timer....
would be curious as to your thoughts on this one.....
Thanks in advance,
Darren

One of the best shots of Snoq. Falls I've seen. I've been there several times and nothing I have compares to this. A nice breakfast to boot....what more can you ask?
Darren--I almost met you there this morning! I decided late last night that I'd wait til' later in the week to drive up there. Seeing the conditions here, I wish I'd stuck to the plan! I guess the interesting water color is due to the recent flooding? Great shot with some nice clearing fog... still masking the lodge though.

Darren, the real question is whether you had a "damn good cup of joe" and some pie - since "this is where pies go to heaven". (apologies if you're not a Twin Peaks fan)
The clouds are very cool in this image, though the past-season foliage in the foreground is kind of distracting. See what you think about B/W on this one - I tried a quick sample, and it helped keep the focus on the falls and clouds, plus is looked very Ansel Adamsesque!

Darren, you caught some really great light here, but I definitely would have liked to have seen a longer exposure on this one.
Tom, Twede's Cafe is where they have the pie, not the Salish. I'll let it slide though.

I could go for a hair bit less sky and a hair bit more foreground. Still though, very nice.
I love it. Let the fog cover the lodge, this is really cool. The fog is wonderful with the way it's breaking up with the sun dancing through it. Sounds like a great outing.

Actually, the place for pie and coffee is Zoka's -- up the hill on the Ridge. Both are the BEST.
And the pies are almost as good.

I see opinions all over the map on this one. I really like this, even though the clouds do have some hot spots that my eyes keep wandering to.
BUT, a B&W would be a great idea to try, also...but you know how I feel about B&W's

Great shot! Where were you standing? Nancy
