I’ve been plotting to photograph a sunrise from Cape Horn, always having missed in the past. Looking at the front moving in Saturday night, it looked like Sunday morning’s sunrise might have color, so I gave it a go. (For a little while now, I’ve been trying to see if there was a way to pad my odds of being able to photograph sunrises in this area. It seems that if we get higher clouds stacking up over here and if the other side of the Cascades is clear, we’ve got a good chance.)
This was an odd morning at Cape Horn. There was almost no wind; I don’t think I’ve ever encountered that at this location before. It was relatively warm too. I was dressed for polar conditions and had to shed a layer. There was color in the sky, although not as solid or red as I had hoped for. With the low clouds and slight fog the overall color was very blue; I’ve actually reduced it in this photo because it looked a little “too much” to my eye. Does it look off to you? I believe the v-shape in the sky is Hood's shadow?
I've cloned the top of a small tree from the lrc. Here's a larger version.
I was thinking of posting this in ESS, but would love some feedback prior to that. Thanks for comments/criticisms/suggestions/etc.

nice panorama and color and comp. because there is evidence of man made activity, you might be restricted to posting in Man & Nature...

Thanks for the suggestions! Here's one with the color tweaked a bit. Now that I see it, I do like it better than the original. You're right David, I went back and looked at the forum definitions and M&N it is.)

Really sweet shot. Love the water flow/reflection and that light is singing.

I admit I was unsure how much I liked this until I looked at the larger version, which shows this much better. Nice work!
