Unfortunately theres really no way to convey a sense of scale here, but the pure anarchy of the Coleman Glacier makes one of the more unique abstracts I've encountered. Taken back in September while waiting for sunset to materialize.

Bryan: I love this as an abstract. I doubt I would have recognized it as the Coleman Glacier (and I've seen the snouts of plenty of big glaciers). The lack of scale is part of the reason (but that's great - it's an abstract), but on my monitor there are no whites just shades of gray to black. I would have guessed stone weathered by water. I think the composition is beautiful - you have made sense of the chaotic!
BTW - Very nice shots in your portfolio of Mt. Stuart and Dragontail & Colchuck from the lake.

Bryan, I can't say I like this one too much. Sort of interesting and sort of not. However, I like the updates on your site!

As far as the scale of whites vs. grays, I felt I couldn't push the bright areas too high because as dirty as the ice is and as much as the sun cast shadows on the various buttresses of ice thrust upward, the image would still have looked really really bright if I bumped the highlights into a lighter threshold. Creative differences perhaps, but I found this to be the logical middle ground.

What Adrian said (both on the photo and the site).
I love your website and the photos there. The one complaint I have with Smugmug is that the slide show always shows the photos full screen, regardless of the viewers' monitor resolution. I use 1600x1200, so the photos look poor at that size. Is there a way to get Smugmug to show the photos at actual size in the slide show that I don't know about?

I like this as an abstract. I never would have guessed this was ice. Interesting. I agree with you about the brightness.
