Hi All,
These have been showing up around my area now for a few weeks, I have a few close ups but this one stood out for me showing the bird with it's favourite companion, also I like the way it feels isolated due to the low shooting angle.
Cropped to take the bird off centre.
Techs
Model Canon EOS 30D 600mm + 1.4x
Focal Length 840 mm
Exposure Time 1/2000 sec
Aperture f/6.3
ISO Equivalent 400
Exposure Bias -2/3
Thanks for looking
Cheers

Hi Brian,
I know it's a Cattle Egret but for me it would be better without the OOF Cow in the BG, it's very dominating. I do like the idea though, and the enviro feel to the image. Have you got any images showing the whole of the bird?
Regards
Rob

But I quite liked this as a picture rather than as a Stock Egret photo.

Nice enviro Brian, but Rob's right about the OoF cow

i think its a nice idea, i htink the cow is sharing too much percentage in bg, if it had been a whole cow oof then i think that would have worked. this cow is lost as there's no form to really identify is as a cow, i had to look a few times and even read the comments to check i was actually seeing a cow and not just a dark blob in the bg.

mark

I can see what you were after and we don't see enough pictures that put their subjects in context or tell a story IMHO - but not enough bird and too much Oof cow for me. I would be tempted to persevere with the idea if they are still around.
Great Idea, but it's not quite working, the cow is just too obscure, perhaps if at all possible an OOF cow behind the egret but with all the other elements as they are, but great to see people trying for a different image...
