Another fall season past
Well, I'm semi caught up on the many tasks most of us have with Christmas being just days away.

Anyhow, I have dozens of recent images I could post, but I'm always too lazy to resize them just for NPN so I'm going to post this one as I originally saved it and see what happens.

This image was taken just as fall was coming to a close. The mist is originating from a small pond, close to home, that isn't really visible.

I guess I should mention this is an Indiana photo

Yep, just as I expected - compression killer when it resized itself. That sucks, as I find it a real pain to make a 720 image when I save them all around 850 :frown:

Might as well post this one as well since I currently have it open in Photoshop and could make a 720 size image quickly.

This image was taken just this morning. Actually, this one and many similar ones

Robert - I like the owl shot, pretty cool. I would like to see the landscape image cropped a little more pano to remove the sky completely - personal preference of course! It's a nice moody shot though...

Thanks, CJ. I actually did take another comp. with only a very small sliver of sky showing, but with less of the right side. Both work for me and I just chose the above for it's small file size. Thanks for your input

Lucky you for getting the Owl, Robert!

I like the first image too..it has a nice mood to it and agree with CJ regarding a slight crop from the top

Nice on both shots.. The misty fog is sweet! Instead of cropping just fill in the sky with more of the dark trees? The mist needs somewhere to go and taking the top away may be too much.. Wish I could get an owl to land near me.. Someday, hey?

Both are very nice images, Robert. I like the feel of the misty woods and agree with others about cropping the top. I really like the owl image (Short-eared?) and feel like it also might benefit from a crop down from the top (maybe about half the space above her head?).

Yes, Chuck I believe it is a short eared. I printed it last night with a slight crop from the top and right side. The posted version is full frame from a 200mm lens on a 30D. I was shocked to get so close myself, and the more odd part was that it didn't even fly away for a couple minutes. It was extremely foggy, and drizzly out so maybe that had something to do with it.

Thanks for the input

Robert.... I would take that sky out as CJ has suggested. Did you shoot a vertical on the owl? Great capture.

Jack, thanks for the suggestion and no I did not shoot a vertical. I'm still wondering why I didn't myself. I suppose I'll make the lame excuse that I was never expecting it to stand around long enough for me too. I just got the comp. thats posted, one with him looking into the camera and one with his head turned almost 180 degrees. Sadly, no vertical and I usually think of such things. It would've been nice though.

Thanks for the comment

Robert,
Don't feel bad... I usually do the opposite, Folks who know me well often yell at me for shooting too many verticals. I'm trying to be better about that!
Cheers,
Jack

Great images Robert, love the mood you captured with the landscape shot, and the owl is amazing as well, I would be freaked to be able to get an owl to hold still and give me such a great view.
