I need to buy a couple of ready made frames, as I need them soon and don't have time for custom framing. Does anyone have suggestions of places in the Denver area (preferably close to Lakewood) that have a decent selection of ready-made frames. I've checked Michaels and Hobby Lobby and their selections seem worse than they used to be. I've even tried Walmart, but haven't found much that would work.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Try Aaron's. They usually have a better selection than Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Walmart. I don't know if you will find anything you like though.

I agree and get all my wood frames from Aaron Brothers. If you need reflection control glass, go to Hobby Lobby, as they are about 50% of the cost at Aaron Brothers.
Aaron Brothers does not carry good quality metal frames though. If you need this style of frame, Hobby Lobby or Michaels are roughly equivalent in quality with different styles.

I vote for Aarons too. I've bought several frames there and they seem to have good selection..how big a frame are you looking for?

Aaron Brothers is about the only major player in town for pre-assembled frames. They don't have a shop in Lakewood; the closest one is in Denver (on Colorado off of I-25); the Broomfield store (120th west of Sheridan) is the largest one in the area, I think.
If you're looking at 18x24", Target also has a selection, surprisingly enough.
PS - if Michael's seems worse than it used to be, it might be because Aaron Brothers is a Michael's company and they've migrated their artsy stuff over there...
colorframe.com - they deliver to the metro area on Thurs. for free if your order is at least $100. It will depend if they have the moulding you want in stock as to whether or not you'll have them this week.

Aaron's is the best I've seen for premade frames. JoAnn's also might have some nice ones as does Michael's

Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't even know there were Aaron's stores in CO, as I didn't see them in the phone book.

Grant,
Also a bit of warning. About a year ago, Hobby lobby switched their supplier for pre-made WOOD frames. The new stuff is absolute garbage. The frames are cut 1/8 to 1/4 inch under the correct dimensions, so precut glass doesn't fit and your perfectly cut mat won't fit well either. Frames are supposed to be 1/8-1/4 inch larger than the dimensions so that the glass and framing materials can fit inside the rabbet easily at assembly.
I have some Black, Gray, Red, Silver (maybe a few others) metal frames here at my shop that you're welcome to look at. I can order a specific style that usually will be delivered the next day (if there in stock).
I'm at I-70 & Wadsworth.
Call me if you're interested.
Thanks,
Vince

And, if you're interested in something that's "out of town," I do most of my frame shopping at AmericanFrame.com...

Mel,
You couldn't have told me that two weeks ago when I finally opened up a few frames I'd purchased from Hobby Lobby (apparently during the transition)... Most of the frames I purchased from them were fine, but I purchased a couple of "Prairie" weathered frames and they were under-sized as you mentioned. Now I don't know where to go for weathered-looking frames...

Les, I saw some barnwood frames at Michaels. Another frame I bought from them, though, was not thick enough to hold a double-matted photo mounted on standard foam board, and it was barely wide enough to fit. So the quality seems to have gone down there, as well. I usually just use RCF, but need these shipped to arrive by Xmas.
Thanks for the offer, Vince. I need brown wooden frames. I'll check Aaron's and then maybe get ahold of you if I can't find anything (if you're able to do wooden frames).
Does this mean that for your mother's Christmas present you'll be framing that photo she bought from Nat?

I'm sure you can't relate to this CAZ, but these photos are for actual, real live customers who are not related to me . Nat's photo could probably use a new frame, though. My mom had it on the bathroom floor and my nephew sort of missed the tiolet while learning to use the bathroom (true story ... sorry Nat!).
P.S. - Found the frames I need at Aaron's. Thanks all!
