On my way to service my feeders again today I spotted this chap attempting to tap the national grid to run his i-pod
He's on this cable nearly every day as the ground below is very 'scrubby' and full of all those lovely things buzzards relish, but this is the first time he's ever sat for me!
I know some folk won't like it because he's not on a natural perch, but as far as I'm concerned you shoot what you can where you can, and the nature of the perch in anyones image never really bothers me - unless it's a freshly galvanised gate - I hate those
Can't quite make my mind up over the crop though as he's facing left but looking right
D2Xs + Sig 300-800mm @ 750mm
1/400 @ f8 + 1/3EV (to try and keep some detail in the wing)
ISO 250
Thanks for looking folks

Looks spot on to me. The focus and detail is excellent considering the focal length used. I am particularly impressed so much so i am thinking of buying the 300-800 lens and would appreciate your comments on its pros & cons especially its weight. Thanks Graham

Yep very nice shot Andy, well taken I can see wht you mean about the crop and I think if it were mine I'd place it more in the centre.
The 300-800 is a lens I'd love to own so I never tire of viewing images taken with it, especially ones like yours which show just how good it is!
Very nice, the wire perch isn't a problem for me, if that is where the bird often perches then so be it...
I would perhaps prefer a touch more room on the right for the bird to look into but that is minor...
These EyeOnes are getting popular
All the best
Phil

Is that a bit tight to the right?? Probably not. Nice one Andy. Handsome beast isn't he? They live where they live and if they sit on wires then why shouldn't we see them on them.

For me i think more room on the right not the left as thats the way he is looking. But if this is a crop, you can play around with that anyway.
Love the detailed feathers and great exposure.
Oh and the wire is fine with me.

Hi Andy,
Perch not a problem for me. I would prefer more space for it to look into. Superb sharpness and colours though.
If you can set up at this location, might be worth looking out for a dead bunny on the road to lob out for him.
Regards
Rob

Thanks for the feedback - re-comp with more space to the right, it does look better - funny how sometimes you get an image and can't get the comp straight in your head

Hi Andy,
The repost works for me too!
And, as we only get about 1 buzzard a year passing this corner of the country, I'm green too!

Great shot of this beautiful bird. A different perch this time but that's just where they are sometimes. Well done and I hope to see some more Buzzard shots. One of my favourites.
