Mirror Lake
Taken on my trip to Yosemite earlier this year. It's an icon of course but I am somewhat happy with this image considering I had never been there before and I was only at this point during the day. I would have liked to be here later in the day but I only had a short time at Yosemite and most of it was spent on the trails with my son and not down in the thick of the people.

20D / 10-22 @ 22 / 1/10 and f/18 / ISO100
Polarizer
2 Stop GND

Thanks for all comments!

Adrian: You made the most of your short time there. Great reflection and tones but I'm a bit distracted by the foliage on the L side. Also the surface grass placement feels arbitrary.

This turned out very well given such short notice. This is a nice black and white too. I love the reflection in the water. I think a bit of dodging to lighten up the actual mountain, the middle ground trees, and the clouds in the sky would help. Right now, the reflection of the mountain is brighter than the actual mountain, I'm sure because of a GND. The grass at the bottom doesn't bother me enough to suggest cropping it out, although next time you're there, it'd be nice to have a little more meat to that foreground element.
Nice take on this iconic shot.

I like the image overall and the comp. is probably the best you had to work with. I would prefer the bottom at least as dark as the top half, however. Maybe bring that down a little and bring the top exposure up a little to strike a more natural balance and appearance.

I like it a lot, Adrian - you were channeling Uncle Ansel when you went with B&W on this, for sure. I'd agree with the comments on the foreground. One bold option would be to crop it all the way up to the bottom of the willows along the left margin, taking off the top (bottom) of the reflected peak in the process. I think that would help keep the motion in the right direction, up to the peak and background.
