I managed to get out for a hour this morning. Limited time means picking somewhere within walking distance so I returned to my favourite local tree that I've photographed many times now. Any thoughts on the comp - the wall too central?

Very pleasing Tristan. A simple but very effective composition, looks good even on a crappy works monitor.

Great stuff Tristan, and no, I don't think the wall's too central. The large stone at the bottom of the frame helps to anchor the image and the rest of the wall pulls your eye nicely into the image.

Hi Tristan,
Tranquil more than chilly in my eyes that is .
The tree and upper part of the frame are perfect, but I wonder the same as you: isn't the wall to cantered? It looks good as is as wall leads straight to the tree, but I just wonder, if eye would not explore more of this wonderful photo by line of wall being a bit more diagonal.
Cheers,
Marko

Hi Tristan the picture is fine as is, but I would try and experiment with Marko's suggestion.

Devastatingly simple and stunning image Tristan
Marko's point is spot on and I can easily visualise it, but to me, they would be two different images with neither better than the other - I'd think either was just as stunning
Nice one

Great colours and lighting. Composition is excellent. Had I taken this image then I would have put the wall off centre. The result would be that the image would then be more run of the mill. I like it as is.

I think this works just fine as is.....uses the rules but bends them a little bit.

Tristan this is a gorgeous image the pink and the blue are wonderful soft colour contrasts. I am sure others have images of yours that they prefer but this is most definitely my favourite. As for the central wall I use it a lot in my compositions I think it works. Joe Cornish obviously does too as he used it similarly for his view of Roseberry Topping. Teriffic stuff.

Superb Tristan. The others can help with the technicalities, all I can do is comment as a novice that enjoys photos, and this looks great from an uncultured eye
Love the soft, pastel coloured sky and the beautiful, frosty setting.
A very bold composition with the wall placed centrally, and one that works very well indeed.
