Opening CR2 and other files in Lightroom "Develop" - Help, Please

I just installed Lightroom, including the 1.3.1 download.

I went to the Develop module and tried to open a Canon CR2 raw file, using Open Catalog (ctrl-O for Windows).

The dialog box opened to the folder I selected, but it didn't show any of the CR2 or JPG or PSD files.

When I used Import From Disk, Lightroom showed all the files but put me into the Library module.

Is there any way I can open files directly from Develop? I would prefer not to use Library. I bought Lightroom specifically for Develop.

Thanks.

Lance,
You have to import photos into Lightroom before you can do anything at all with them. Have you actually done an import? I go to Import, them browse to the folder I want to import, then click Import Selected. That will import the whole folder. I believe you can also import individual files.

You're welcome. BTW, the button is not labeled "import selected", it's "choose selected" at the bottom right. Sorry for any confusion.
