40 dollars and an hour.5 ferry ride got bryan and I to orcas island to enjoy the remaining-rainy-3 hours of daylight. The exif data for my final shot reads something in the ballpark of: iso 200, f13, bulb exposure; so dark I couldn't even discern what was in focus. It was our meager attempt at mustering an offseason outing.

Offseason, huh? Personally, this is my favorite season. I have 2 backpacking trips planned when the storms hit this next week alone. I'd say this comp. works really well, Trevor. I like pretty much everything about the image except the reds are a little overcooked. Some selective desaturation should take care of that.
Offseason: the time of the year when all nature photographers, besides Adamus, are less productive.
I will be purchasing a pair of snowshoes and growing a pair of cajones at some point soon, though.

I shot these falls in september. They are pretty cool. The borrom here feels bit empty compare to the bussy top.

Let me know when you do. It would be fun to head up in the Tatoosh range or something around Rainier this time of year. We could head out there together.
Considering such a possibility, I'm tempted to run out an buy a pair now.

Looks a bit too red to me. The leaves on the left look particularly blood-like.
Marc, maybe "off season" is a relative word, or maybe some of us just enjoy our masochism in different ways.
The photographer in me love the snow, the rest of me is quite hibernatory, but damned if I'm not gonna coax myself out there one of these days. Sure would beat sitting on a ferry for 3 1/2 hours of the day - though the people watching in the hills is, I'm sure, not nearly as amusing.
I was quite obviously in the spirit of christmas amid the processing of this.
After the unusual mix of eccentricity held by the ferry passengers, I was under the assumption that orcas island had a carnival that was unbeknownst to me.

Trevor, I agree with the others. I like the comp but the reds are a little over the top. Looks like a nice place.

What a beautiful scene. I love the exposure and contrast treatment througout, but I agree with others that the reds look a bit unnaturally saturated.

Trevor, fix the reds and you'll have a pretty nice image. I'm in the same place as you, I need to get out and shoot more this winter. I've got my snowshoes, though!
