Here's an image from a couple years back. My technique wasn't nearly as good at the time as I had only been shooting about a year, but I'm pleased that I was able to capture what I did. This morning yielded some of the most intense light that I've yet witnessed. Thankfully, I was in a workable spot to capture it and made a couple successful images. This is one of them. The transparency was very dense (I have since stopped using velvia), but a drum scan from Danny Burk allowed me to get a decent sized print out of it. Enjoy!

Joel,
The light here is just fantastic! I love the gradient range of color in the sky. Great anchor in that large boulder.

Nice work, Joel. The light is amazing. The swirls of color in the clouds make this one of my favorites of yours.

Joel, if that's not your best technique, then you've really got me drooling. You've got great detail on the back side of the boulder - that's tough to find!!!
Good work,
Tim!

Excellent image, Joel. I love this kind of light, and the vertical comp.

Sometimes breaking the rules really works. Though the center line is dead center, it really works well for me here. Joel, you did a great job with your composition as well as holding the highlights in the water. The patterns of the clouds really draw my eye into the image.
really spectacular!

The light is amazing in this Joel, the rock adds a solid fg anchor to the image, very nicely done
