I would be interested. Hopefully it won't be quite as cold as it was on Max Patch last year.
Posted by Lance Warley on December 16, 2007 at 12:04 PM
I would be very interested, but it's too far for me to travel for a meeting.
Would you consider meeting via teleconference, Richard? Or doing both?
If you would consider a telecon, I'll do the legwork to find out what it would cost us to get some kind of call-in number and password at the best price.
And, if it gets this far, I'll volunteer as meeting coordinator (or whatever the heck we want to call it) to get topics for an agenda.
btw, if telecon meetings stike people as odd, all I can say is - I felt the same way when my company started to implement them heavily to save travel costs. Now, however, we basically run our business via telecons.
Until we get a consensus and gauge a level of interest, we don't know where we will be or what we will be doing. It might be a little difficult to teleconference from atop of Roan or Max Patch, unless you possess some super secret technology you could share with us.
Seriously, we will keep it in mind and get your input. Anyone else interested? Ideas?
Yes, I'm interested. Roan and Max Patch are close by for me but sound like some pretty cold and possibly windy places in the winter. Maybe someplace at a lower elevation and in the trees, like Ramsey Cascades near Gatlinburg. Or some of the places along the Parkway near Asheville. Moses Cone Park maybe another place to consider.

Absolutely interested but am booked on Saturdays until sometime in Feb.-I am already comitted to being the loudest cheerleader at my son's pee wee basketball games. Sundays work though.

Richard, I'd also be interested. I'll do my best to make it. I'd enjoy meeting you fellows and ladies.
Well it will be cold but I, for one, will be far too busy once the weather warms and I know there are others who feel the same. I will throw out a date just to see the response. How does Saturday, January 19 sound? C'mon, like you have anything BETTER to do on a Saturday in mid-January?
We can spend a half day up in Rocky Fork and perhaps the other half somewhere warm - eating, drinking, shooting the bull and sharing ideas about photography and life.
Ok, Sound off.

Sure! Sounds good to me. Hey, I remember where I was last year, Puerto Rico! Damn, I wish I was going back!
Hey, we can go eat at El Torito!

Rocky Fork sounds good and I love mexican food! I'm going to try to be there.

Count me as a very definite maybe. Been curious about Rocky Fork.
Be there if the truck is running! I have been curious about Rocky Fork myself... Anyone have simple directions to the meeting place. Be nice if we all ended up in the same spot!
I am planning on Jan 19 at Rocky Fork. Looking forward to hearing about a gathering spot!

Count me in as well. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces.

Guys and Gals,
I'll get the directions together in a couple of days and post them on SENP. It should be great fun!

Randy,
Rocky Fork is in northeast TN and is a 10,000-acre watershed recently slated for preservation thanks to the efforts of Jerry and many others. Photo ops include beautiful streams and rich forests. Max Patch is on the TN/NC state line just northeast of the Smokies and is a large grassy bald with 360 degree vistas. I hope you'll join us at Rocky Fork!

Possible. Sure will try.

Yes, Richard, I would be interested in a meeting. How about the park at Lake Cunningham.
Whoa Blaine, where did you come from? I didn't know you were lurking around here. Welcome!
It looks like we have decided on meeting at Rocky Fork - hope you can make it. Jerry will be our informal guide and he has offered to buy dinner and drinks for everyone afterwards. How can you beat that?
Jerry will also be posting some directions soon, as well as more details. Happy New Year, everyone!

I went to MP Patch and RF this Wednesday in the snow. (Thank you Lori!) I still hope to go on the 19th. It is a 4 hour drive to RF for me. I never made it up to the patch (4 degrees, very windy, snow) but the drive up Harmon's to the MP parking lot was great. I never made it into RF because the small river on RF road was too tempting for photos. Hopefully I'll make it. It'd be great to meet you all, and I'd like to see the interior of RF. If not, though, have a great time!

I spent a couple of hours at rocky fork creek on wed. Suprised we didn't run into each other there. Plenty of photo ops. on that creek. The snow and ice made for tricky travel but awesome photos. Cool to have this place within 30 min from home. Hope you can make it on the 19th.

It's looking like I may be off work on the 19th but I won't know for sure until next week. I have never been to Rocky Fork so if someone has time to give an update with directions (I am in N. GA.) and also do you all try to meet first thing in the morning (and if so where) or just show up and do your on thing until time to meet up and eat or what.
I've not been out with the camera since October and am looking forward to getting up there if I can. I am looking forward, just as much so, to meeting some of the great people from SENP.
