I found this on one of my Raven Run trips. The composition itself is what really caught my eye. The moss and little plants in the BG were a bit far for sharp focus, so this is another Helicon composite. Must thank Tim E for putting me onto that program. It really opens up some things, especially with macro work.

Hey Dominic,
The little rosettes in the background are of a succulent plant called stonecrop, Sedum ternatum. It is common in Kentucky statewide. Now that you are in Kentucky, you may want to purchase a copy of "Wildflower and Ferns of Kentucky," by Thomas G. Barnes and S. Wilson Francis. I got mine from Amazon.com.
Thanks for the info, Don. A wealth of knowledge as usual. And thanks for the tip on the book. If you recommend it, I certainly have faith in it. And yes, those succulents are EVERYWHERE.

Wonderful colors and textures, Dominic. And I like the composition. I downloaded a demo of Helicon Focus last spring, but I keep forgetting to take shots with it in mind.

Very nice shot and post processing Dominic. I like this intimate landscape alot. Did you use a polarizer on this one? There's a little glare on the rightmost fungus resulting in a loss of detail. Just wondering.
I was using a polarizer, and there is some detail in there. The downsizing lost some, and I haven't found the best way yet to bring down that highlight and still have it look natural. I can get the highlight down, but then I am having trouble getting the rest to look natural when I brighten the dark areas back up. Any suggestions anyone?

Dominic, the detail is really amazing with the Helicon software. Like John, I downloaded the software but have not used it yet. Keep posting the great shots from Kentucky and thanks for letting us have some of the rain you have been getting!

The elements of this composition are simple and classic - nice job! I might be tempted to clean up some of the spots on the fungus if they were just dirt.
