I was just out at the Santa Rosa Plateau here in So Cal. today Michael, and I saw three or four of these fellas running around, none looked as healthy and clean as this guy here though. A wonderful scene.
This is really sweet! I love the composition. You might consider cloning thos bits of OOF grass in the foreground, The light is vrey nice and I like that I can see the coyote's eyes.
Good job!

Michael,
For the scronny scavengers I'm used to seeing in Yosemite, this is a beautiful animal. What a wonderful capture. Congrats.

I like how alert he looks with the eyes and ears. just like a healthy dog. this is a fine image.
I'll have to get out to the Santa Rosa Plateau one of these days myself. Vernal pools sounds cool.

Nice one Michael!! While my wife and I were out yesterday afternoon we spotted a coyote too. He looked similar to this one. He stopped to look up at us and just kept on going down the road.

Thank You All... for the kind words!
This Coyote kept wandering back and forth and we crossed paths several times over the course of an hour or so. I ended up with over 80 photos of her. This one was my favorite.

This is a better shot than the close up IMHO. You're starting to get a story going on in the coyote picking out of the forest.
Nitpicks: the snow's too blue here too, and it feels the frame is tilted CCW a degree or two. You could also try different options with your post processing, for example bringing the detail out of the shadows, and once you do that then readjust your contrasts and black levels.
This photo deserves some attention to present it in its optimal form so it stands out.
