With all the recent talk about camping in the wilderness I thought I'd show you the view from my camp site at sunset on the summit of An Teallach. Of course it was a darn sight warmer than Tristan's recent efforts. All was perfect, or so I thought until I realised that the cup of tea I was planning on was not going to materialise - no matches.

Really atmospheric Ian - I like it, especially up the right edge as there's some mach bands starting to show - nice one
I can tell you've cropped it though, wouldn't it have been nicer full frame?

How can you tell he's cropped it - perhaps I'm missing something. Anyway, its a great shot, the hazy light simplifies the image very effectively here. Certainly a moment to remember even without the tea .

Tom - for a start, look at the image, no dslr gives you an image of those proportions
The actual pixel dimensions of Ians image are 720x569, if it was uncropped from a Canon it would be 720x480 and from a Nikon it would be 720x478.
Well I wish I had been greeted to a sunrise like this the other day rather than a bit of a none-event. Beautiful view and nicely captured.
Andy: Ian doesn't use digital - he uses a steam powered Pentax 6x7 which has a different aspect ratio from all known Canon and Nikon dslrs.

Ohh......I take it all back then - that'll teach me to be a smart-arse
We had two of those when I was at college in the '70s - fractured eye sockets everywhere from the mirror recoil
The sound always used to make me think of a piano being chucked off a roof
Still a nice image - IAN - GET A PROPER CAMERA MAN!!

That's how I know it's cropped
