Wattled Crane
Africa's largest and rarest Crane. Status critically endangered.

6ft tall and weighing 14lbs it enjoys the wetlands around the Okavango Delta

This shot taken in Moremi, Botswana November 2005 on a 10D with 100-400 lens.

Magnificent birds and well captured. Great exposure and lots of detail. Must have been a great trip.

Hi Paul,

Do these birds really stand 6ft tall?? As edwin says nice exposure. Nice to get a little flock together but would have been nice also just to have the bird on the right of frame on it's own.
Thanks for sharing an image of a bird I've never seen and know very little about.

Regards

Rob
