So, it's been a little slow around here lately. Probably at least in part weather related. The end of the year will be upon us quickly enough, so I thought this would be as good a time as any to get together and post some of our collective highlights and reflect on the 2007 year of photography.

The first two images were among my favorites at the moment. The first from the desert of SE Oregon in January and the second one from the coast in September.

Look forward to hearing from you all!

"Edge of Dreams" Oregon high desert playa, lenticular cloud.

"Fountain of Light" Stonefield Beach, sunset light on rocks and waves diffused by sea spray.

#219H MAPLE LEAF GROUND COVER GIFFORD PINCHOT NATIONAL FOREST one stop bellows extension F/11 1 SEC 75mm 2007

This was made on the day of the outing at Mt. Adams. I have been playing with wide angle marcos this fall (and winter). I liked this one so much that I put out $$ for a drum scan because I could not get the red/yellow seperation I wanted.

Here's mine.

The Painted Hills on January 13th.
Rick and I left Hood River at three in the morning to get out there for sunrise. It was cold, cold, cold but we had a great day and saw the Hills as few have ever seen them.

Here's my other most favorite photo of 2007.

Ellen in the Spooky Canyon in Escalante.
She loved it and it was great to see her there and hearing her yell "Hey, guys, you should see THIS"!
Posted by Marc Adamus on December 17, 2007 at 9:33 PM
Ellen is just perfect for a place like Spooky Canyon, Mark. That place has never looked so roomy.

This is Two Med Lake in Glacier NP from this last July. One of my favs from the year.
Posted by Adrian Klein on December 17, 2007 at 9:57 PM
And from a more simple different side this is one I really like as well. Taken on the beach in Manzanita in May.
Posted by Tomas Kaspar on December 17, 2007 at 11:03 PM
Good Idea Mark.
Posted by Tomas Kaspar on December 17, 2007 at 11:04 PM
This is one of my all time fav.
Posted by Eric Hahl on December 17, 2007 at 11:07 PM
This is probably my favorite of the year.
Posted by Larry Andreasen on December 17, 2007 at 11:33 PM
Warm Springs tribal dip-net fishing on the Deschutes. It seemed more "natural" to me.

Dang! Jeez Louise! and Gimme a Break! Nice shots all around!
Posted by Jack Graham on December 18, 2007 at 12:02 AM
The first is the often photographed Horseshoe bend outside Page AZ. However this day I had some special light! The second is Mary's peak ( look familiar Marc A... and thanks again.).
Everyday I am thankful to have relocated here this year, and a special thanks to my new friends.
Have a Happy!

Thanks again everyone for the most inspiring images I've ever seen. P.S and making me jealous enough to get my butt out there !

One of my favs from this year...

My fav from this year.

I had given up on the sun breaking through and decent clouds, I remember racing back to this spot to get a shot.

This was on the way down to the PNWNP meet up at Trout Lake

Posted by Ned Fenimore on December 18, 2007 at 2:25 AM
Great idea, Marc, and awesome images everyone!

Here are my favorite two in no particular order.

The first was taken on a hike to Triple Falls - the same day seeing Marc and Annie wading the creek far below, (above this section, though)...
Posted by Ned Fenimore on December 18, 2007 at 2:26 AM
Here is the second - shot on a very rainy afternoon with good friend and PNWNP'r Eric Hahl...
Posted by Chris Hodney on December 18, 2007 at 2:45 AM
Wow, great images everyone! Ned, your first post is one of my favorite moments on the Oneonta trail.
First photo is one I just posted on NPN, but it has been a favorite of mine since I shot it in May. The learning curve has been steep trying to process that photo to show what I remeber seeing that day.
Tokatee Falls, OR.
Posted by Chris Hodney on December 18, 2007 at 2:46 AM
Here is the second. I'm not sure if I ever posted this one. The sky was not that great in it, but I just loved the color and detail throughout.
TOok this on a trip with my Dad in May. Fort Rock, at sunset.

Hey folks, sorry I haven't been around much, I've been uber busy lately. Anyway, I have been lurking and really enjoying everyones photos. It probably comes as no surprise, but here is my absolute favorite this year, although there are a lot of runner up images as well.

Posted by Zack Schnepf on December 18, 2007 at 3:01 AM
Here is my most popular image, I get more interest in this image than any other from this year.

And here is my favorite image not shot by me.

Amazing shots from everyone!!! Just goes to show you how lucky we really are to live right here in the GREAT Northwest....

This shot is amongst my faves of the year but I never posted it simply because at 174kb it just does not to it justice...
Posted by Sean Bagshaw on December 18, 2007 at 12:37 PM
Super inspiring everyone! Hard for me to pick just one or two, which I guess is a good thing. Lunar Eclipse Over Mt. Shasta was a lot of fun to create...especially the 7 hours of night photography in the mountains. I also like it because it isn't something one can photograph on a regular basis.
Posted by Sean Bagshaw on December 18, 2007 at 12:45 PM
Red Willow Sea is also a favorite because of the surprise it was to come across so much color and texture on a bleak winter day.
Posted by Mark Hudon on December 18, 2007 at 12:57 PM
This is a great idea, Marc. We should make it permanent. "The Best of the PNWNP 2007".
Posted by Marc Adamus on December 18, 2007 at 12:59 PM
Mods take note. We could probabaly sticky this thing up there through the end of the year or something. Change the title to Mark's suggestion, perhaps.
Posted by Rick Lamb on December 18, 2007 at 2:51 PM
Well as you all know 2007 for me did not include a significant amount of time out shooting. But the good news is I did get a few nice shots out of the year and this is my favorite.

And yes this is an EXCELLENT idea Marc thanks!!!

I've been concentrating on garden photography and trees this year, so I'll add a colorful garden shot I like and also one of the forest.
Posted by David Cobb on December 18, 2007 at 6:33 PM
Here is one of a forest.

I didn't do much shooting this last year but I did get out a few times. I'll post one in the next couple of days. Marc, I also think this a great idea. PNWNP is sure showing off some awesome images. Good job folks! :toast:
Posted by Adrian Klein on December 18, 2007 at 7:38 PM
If all these images are not a reminder (as if we needed one) of what a beautiful place we are so foruntate to live in and around, I don't what is! Everyone truly should be darn happy. Great inspiring work, and great idea Marc.

2 of my favorites from last year. Wish I could figure out how to embed these instead of making them links.

Anyhoo - happy new year to all !!
Posted by Jim Jirka on December 20, 2007 at 11:10 PM
John,
If you are a NPN member there will be a line to upload the image from your computer in a reply.
Posted by Tom Kloster on December 24, 2007 at 11:47 PM
Wow - this is such an impressive collection! I'll humbly add a couple... starting with my "favorite" image of my "favorite" mountain, and view of the Sandy Headwall taken a few weeks ago...
Posted by Tom Kloster on December 24, 2007 at 11:52 PM
...then a second view (of my favorite mountain) that also represents my first time winning a photo contest (Oregon Wild, also a few weeks ago)... this time, from my annual pilgrimage to Elk Cove in early August. I was a runner up in this contest last year, and discovered the key to their judging by studying the previous winner: go wide - very wide! So I did.

Great photos, everyone! Really amazing stuff! Very inspiring to the weekend amateurs around here, like yours truly. Thanks for all the great feedback over the year, too! :toast:
Posted by John Williams on December 27, 2007 at 10:40 AM
Wow, great photos in this thread. Many we have seen, but it's nice to see them grouped.

Here are my favorites, both posted here before. This first one is from Bowman Bay, and the next from High Prairie (both in Washington).

I thought someone should post at least one fauna shot.
Bute Inlet, Orford River Valley, British Columbia
Posted by David Schoen on December 29, 2007 at 9:22 PM
This was one of my favs this year. It got a 2nd place in the nature category and was runner up for the people's choice award at the WA State photographers exhibition at the Puyallup Fair this year.
Posted by William Brozy on December 30, 2007 at 1:18 PM
TRULY, an amazing portfolio of images from this region. A big congrats to all.

I have many waterfalls, mountains, lakes and forest images but I will add something a tad more intimate. Not sure if it's a fav, but one I am fond of nonetheless

Posted by Ned Fenimore on December 30, 2007 at 4:18 PM
I've always liked this image of yours, Will - from the flora forum.... :toast:
Posted by Mark Hudon on January 3, 2008 at 10:52 PM
Yeah, Will, that one is nice.
Posted by Rick Dunn on January 9, 2008 at 9:22 PM
Spectacular shots throughout this thread; this is quite a display!

No PNW shots just yet, so I'll share a couple of favorites from Colorado. This first one is the view I left behind. Not only did I get to enjoy this from my porch, office and bedroom, but my drive to work took me west to those foothills, and then north along them into Boulder. Trying to remember why I left...
Posted by Rick Dunn on January 9, 2008 at 9:25 PM
This one is from just west of Crested Butte and Kebler Pass where many of the RMNP folks make an annual pilgrimage each fall. This was a sunrise that never developed, but the lightning was putting on quite a show.
Posted by Mark Hudon on January 10, 2008 at 11:46 AM
Yeah, Rick, right about now I guess you are wondering, eh? The top shot is great, I want to be right there in that notch, Eldorado Canyon, climbing.

Roman, I was wondering when you would show up here. I've seen your stuff via DPreview and was always impressed with the quality of your work.

James, thats an angle I've looked at every single time I've stopped at Ruby Falls but I could never make it work. Looks like you may have found the spot to start at.

James, I really like your leaves swirling in the water shot. One of the best of those I've seen!!

Bryan, all around great stuff. I've generally associated you with waterfall shots so I really enjoyed browsing your gallery of mountain shots.

Rick, you trying to peddle your RMNP shots over here?!? Just kidding, those both are killer shots and I enjoyed seeing them again.

I tried to post the image several times, but somehow the image upload is not working, so this is the link:

Cezar, Nice image! I really like the comp and light.. I think the reason it won't upload is that the file size is just slightly over 200k. You don't get an error message, it just doesn't upload. It's gotten me several times, and it always takes me a while to figure out what's wrong.
