OK. So I am piggybacking off the idea that Steve pointed out to us in the thread for our Pac Northwest friends. Their thread is really awesome and I know that we have some really great stuff that has been produced here over the past year. Let's see your favs.

This one that I posted back in July of Shrine Ridge is certainly one of my better efforts this year.

Hard to choose a favorite. It was a productive year for me. But after reviewing my prints, I think this is probably my favorite of the year. I wish I could have shot this in 4X5, but I was concerned that the wind might have caused me to lose something bigger than my cokin adapter ring. I could hardly hold on to my dark slides while I was shooting.
North Rim view #1

Great shots everyone! This is a pre-dawn image from the Wave on what turned out to be a 109 degree day I believe, taken this past July. I liked this better than later shots in full sunlight, the colors came out much richer in my opinion.

Sunrise at Mirror Lake, Snowy Range, Wyoming. I stiched 6 pictures together to create a panoramic. The pictures were taken in late June.
Posted by Kalin Wilson on December 20, 2007 at 1:20 AM
It's been a very productive year for myself also. I've still got more transparencies and files to go through but this is currently my favorite from the year. Lots of runner-ups though!

Ok, since Richie posted two...
My first trip to Antelope Canyon was awesome!
Great shots so far!

I think I have 6 faves, but if I have to narrow it down to 2, I think I'll go with this one...

Everybody - feel free to post what favs you have. I never said it had to be one. Just be 'reasonable'.

2007 was sort of a photographic slump, for me - busy life and lack of motivation. But as I look back on the year, I realize that I got to do quite a bit of hiking and exploring - which I love.
The above image was from a rainy/snowy day near Ashcroft and is one of my favorites from this year.
Posted by Paul Wegemann on December 20, 2007 at 2:42 PM
I won't call this one of my best, but it's one of my favorites since it reminds me of a great trip to a beautiful place. Slate River basin near Created Butte.

This one's probably my favorite, from one of my favorite backpack trips of the year - the Maroon Bells circuit.

From a very lucky morning at the Temple of the Sun--Capitol Reef.

Also had some fun with the red fox kits.

Fantastic images so far! Jack's favorite is also my favorite, but I'll post some of my own anyway...

I have several favorites but this image made at Bosque Del Apache last January on a very crisp
5 degree dawn is number one on the list because it represents a departure from my usual static subjects( grass, etc) and it opened up my eyes to the possibilities to the artistic potential of wildlife images.
This image was also juried into the International show at the Center for Fine Art Photography.

Not sure if it was my favorite image of the year, but it was probably my most unique one. Aspen abstract, as seen from the Routt National Forest, Flat Tops Scenic Byway, Colorado.

And I had to post one from my July wildflower trip which was a blast this year. American Basin columbine, San Juan mountains, Colorado.

Wow! This is quite a collection - superb work all around! I didn't get out much this year, but was fortunate to have made it to a few places that I had never visited before and to have returned to a couple of comfortable, familiar spots that never disappoint.
This first one is from the latter - sunrise atop the Beartooth Plateau. This was the first day of our two-week trip to Canada with Darren, and waking up to this scene was a great way to kick things off.
Posted by Rick Dunn on December 30, 2007 at 11:42 AM
And from a place that I had never visited before (but will certainly return to), this is along the trail to Calf Creek Falls.

Thanks for the compliment Jody.
Joshua, great pick of American Basin.

Posted by Bret Edge on December 30, 2007 at 7:12 PM
And another from 2007. Rick, that second image you posted (from Calf Creek Falls) is out of this friggin' world, my friend. I would love to see a large print of that one.
This is one of my favorites from 2007. This is a great sunrise spot but I wanted to try photographing here in the afternoon for a different look. I had in mind trying to get a nice sunstar image with the sun partially blocked by the formations. This is almost exactly what I previsualized. The frustrating part was that the weather would not cooperate. I made three trips to this spot before I finally got a break in the clouds and the sun came out for me. It's one of my favorites because it's an image that I specifically wanted to make, and with some planning and determination it seemed to all work out pretty well.
Don't know about my best, but this is probably my favorite shot from last year, partly because i only had to drive a mile up the road to shoot it, and partly for the thrill of not knowing whether i would be electrocuted or not before i got the shot i wanted!
This is my 2d favorite, just for the coolness factor and the amount i learned from trial and error. (Zapata Falls)
Posted by Laurie Wendt on January 8, 2008 at 11:03 PM
WOW!! Really Fantastic photos everyone!! I was really lucky to hook up with Darren K for 1 day last fall in the San Juans. He was kind enough to take me over many of the 4wd roads in the area. This was my first time over them and what an AWESOME experience!!
This one taken on Corkscrew Pass.

My second post (first photo post). My favorite and, at least in my eyes, my best. Long's Peak.

Sentimentally, this shot of Zebra Slot is my other favorite of the year, though it's certainly not the most original. May this year be a productive one for all of us!
Posted by Jeff Hackett on January 14, 2008 at 10:42 PM
Unbelievable collection of images!
Factory Butte and Moonset. January 2007. Very, very cold, but the most intense alpenglow I've ever seen. It made the butte look like it was melting. Kind of lacks a little punch here though.

Moonrise over Cricket Mts., West Desert, Utah (August 2007)

Wonderful, inspiring stuff, everyone! Y'all are awesome photographers! My own 2007 Year in Photos is a pretty meagre collection; an abusive workload and 6 trips to China kept me to a mere 40 exposures or so of nature subjects. But 2008 will be different. I am leaving my employer of 24 years and will likely become an independent design consultant. I may not eat, but I will shoot!
Here is a favorite image from this year: taken within a small gorge of Elkhorn Creek in northern Larimer County.
Hi all! I'm from over at the Northeast Forum and thought I'd hang out here for a bit and boy am I glad to have seen these wonderful shots!! Congrats to all for your inspiring work!!! Some day maybe I'll get to come out your way...sigh! Keep 'em coming!!!

Holy canoli, Paul. I've got a huge monitor, and that dream lake shot doesn't fit even on it! I think it's supposed to be 720 pixels on the longest side. You kinda blew through the sound barrier on that one. Seriously, dropping it down might make it easier to see and enjoy.
Posted by Laurent Baig on January 30, 2008 at 1:11 PM
Well, actually, pics of cacti really don't appeal to a lot of people, but I think they're beautiful. This one really moves me, personally
Posted by Paul Martin on January 31, 2008 at 9:41 AM
Whoops, I guess I sized my other pic backwards Anyway, back to Dream Lake....
Hi All - I am now an official resident of the SW! YEAH!!! I moved from Portland, Oregon area to Avondale, Arizona late in 2007. Here is my favorite image from last year, which is a shot of a dahlia from my cousins wedding reception held in Redmond, Washington.

This is a portion of a large rock "dike" known as The Devil's Stairstep. It is located in S. CO, near LaVeta. This is digital image, and is an example of a style that involves converting the raw file to b & w, toning and tinting it, and then adding back in small amounts of the original colors (then lots of dodging and burning). The sky really was like that.

Wow everyone. Amazing work all of it. What a great thread, and what a great sample of the talent represented on this forum.
Here's my humble submission, shot last fall in my favorite place to hunt for a photo-or any other excuse I can find to head up; RMNP.
This was shot one morning while my wife and son were out of town. I spent one sunset up on Trail Ridge, came home, then got up early the next morning and headed back up for this one. What a beautiful place we have right in our own backyard.
We were going to do a lot of stuff on Grand Mesa but had to make other plans when we found all the trails covered in lots of snow. This is from Rifle Falls State Park. The far right falls is in this picture. Surprisingly, the falls are just inside the entrance to the park and not much of a hike at all ... which is what we expected. Beautiful set of waterfalls! I thought this shot turned out nice.
