The new Capture One 4 (non-beta) was released yesterday for anyone interested. The end product (conversion) continues to to be excellent, but Phase One continues to disappoint with it's arrogant management style and persistent refusal to actually listen to what photographers want. They must be related to Adobe! All in all, I still prefer C1 to ACR4.3, but C1's management is trying it's best to chase off it's loyal user base! Very sad.

Hi Jerry. There's A LOT that C4 doesn't offer, and I'm not overly optinistic that the PRO version will be any better. For all the hype, this "upgrade" is a major disappointment. I don't really understand why they released the beta versions to the public as they obviously had NO INTENTION of listening to suggestions and pleas of the photographers who use it. I have been a huge fan of C1 in the past, but they really bent us over and drove it home with this one. Believe me, I am not the only unhappy soul here. Take a gander at the C4 Forum this morning and you'll get an idea of the overall displeasure among us users!

Does it work? Yeah. Does it still produce a wonderful final product? Yep. Only now, it's more complicated, convoluted, and non user-friendly. IMO, this is classic example of developers and programmers making a product that suits their needs, and not the needs of the end user. They are SO MANY areas in the program that are a huge step backward. True enough, there are also some nice steps forward as well, but excuse me, that's what an upgrade is supposed to provide, so pardon me not nor breaking my arm patting them on the back for those good features.

A fine example of corporate arrogance (I guess they're trying to compete with Adobe and Microsoft in that arena).

I liked C4 for most things but the biggest problem that I had was not having the ability to choose a cashe drive. This is a real problem when you work with lots of images, you can really fill up a drive quickly. With C1Pro you hae the ability to choose a drive and a file to retain the cashe files which makes it easy to clean. The big thing that I loved with C4 was the quickness but that's not enough to make me use it.
