Primordial Sea
From a trip to Bandon last week. The tide was way in so I was limited in places to stand without getting swamped. However, the storms a couple weeks back uncovered a lot of beach rocks that are normally under the sand. This is a composite of three images, blending the surf area to get some interesting texture and motion. I'm bummed I couldn't reposition to get some separation between face rock and the foreground rock.

Comments appreciated.

Beautiful effect with the water, Sean. All the elements are in place for a masterpiece - the sky, sublime lighting, and the composition just flows like the water.

However, I have a bit of a problem with the two foreground boulders and if I scroll them out of view on my monitor it strengthens the image IMHO.

Sean, The motion of the water pulls me out to the distant stacks. The separation of the rocks would have been nice, but not a deal killer. My one beef would be the two-toned sky. I'm used to seeing - and probably prefer - a sky that is darker on top and lighter on bottom. Therefore I might try darkening the top, bright layer of the sky.

I can feel motion here Sean, very nice movement captured. I personally like the piece the way it is. The nit I have is the top right corner needs to be brought up more. It's a little too dark I feel.

Beautiful shot. I think the sky is very interesting in that the low clouds are stacked up not unlike the sea stacks. I'd leave it. Nice composition.

New rocks exposed indeed! One of my favorite spots on the entire coast. I've been vacationing there since 1965. The B&W treatment is perfect for the mood you are portraying. Happy Holidays, Sean!

I've shot this same exact area many a times and never came away with anything this nice. You did real good with this comp.

Beautiful image, Sean. What works for me on this one is the choice of B/W -- perfect mood -- and how the shutter speed created the look of "fog" sliding in off the ocean, somehow blended with the tide. It creates sort of a continuum from surf to sky. Really nice!

Plenty of mood Sean. I like it. There's some halos up there though...but probably because of the web conv.

Nice dramatic shot and effect. I agree about the 2 immediate foreground boulders. Cropping them out does seem to help (but keeping the 2nd foreground boulders). Something about the rotation or distortion on this feels like it's leaning to the right also. I love the way you handled those low clouds.
