After Todd's encouragement for all of us to get out this morning, Dave Rodenbaugh and I headed to the little visited Dream Lake. Like always, the winds were gently blowing making it difficult to keep the tripod and at times one's self upright. Combined with a 0 degree temperature and snow which pierced skin, it was a beautiful morning.

Erik,
That looks brutal!!! 0 degrees + wind chill that cuts to the bone. It sounds like winter hikes I have experienced up in that area before. Sometimes those relatively short hikes end up feeling like the longest mile, especially in the dark.
Hopefully you are starting to thaw out. A bunch of us 'southerners' met up on Rampart Range Road this morning. But the frigid air + wind along with bright blue cloudless skys left us searching for other photo comps. So we drove to Cheyenne Canyon which had more snow and the streams and falls were basically frozen and covered.
We thought for sure you or Todd found something more interesting. It looks like you did. I especially like the second *painful looking* shot. Thanks for posting.

That last one looks dangerous! Should Dave really be that far away from his tripod?
I'm certain he doesn't have your extensive experience in chasing tripods while wearing snowshoes!

Eric, you have such a way with words ...too funny! Does look like it was a wee bit brutal up there. Rampart was, well, a bit tamer (boring) by comparison. Still it was good to get out and meet up with the guys.

That last one was taken during one of the 50-60mph gusts...and I was screaming my head off...Ironically, my tripod was stuck into the ground perfectly. That sucker never budged. Erik isn't just a Viking, he's a frickin' Sasquatch. The man could easily endure Everest with a smile.
Good times and Merry Happy New Kwanza, etc to all,
