Does anyone know how the sun hits fallen roof ruin this time of year? Does it remain high enough in the sky to keep the ruin in shade or is it so low that the ruin is 1/2 & 1/2 sun and shade?
Thanks!

Aahh, beautiful Blanding! Sorry I can't tell you how the light will work so you don't waste your time and hike. Couldn't help but post and say hi. Have fun in Utah and Merry Christmas! Get some good stuff!
This town rolled up the sidewalks for the holiday already. By mid-morning on Sunday the town was deserted and all the restaurants were closed. Nat and I had to drive to Monticello just to find a hot meal.
Tomorrow night in Moab should be better though - I hear the Denny's is expected to remain open!
Merry Christmas

CAZ – this site faces dead West and is tucked in under a nice overhang. The ruin should stay in the shade until about 11:00am-ish this time of year. If you have a perfectly clear sky, it should be lit nicely by the light bounced off the red rock in the canyon.
