I didn't get to make my annual trip to shoot sunrise under the great Buzzard Roost Arch this morning (I saw the results of others who did and it was terrific), but did stop and jump out of the car on the way home from granny's house this evening to catch the rising full moon. The colors of the sky were kind of weird to begin with, but I added a dash of orton to this shot, then backed it off by about 80%. I made about a dozen exposures of this scene in the 1/10th second range using my little Sony A100 (the camera body is stabilized instead of the lenses - I laid down on the ground to help steady myself first). I got one image that is just as sharp as could be, but all the rest were kind of fuzzy, as I was from a day of feasting...

Nice image, Tim. My boys and I were driving back from Owens and Ricketts Mountains at sundown and got to enjoy the moon's spectacular show. When we got home we noticed that Mars had joined the act.... it was right below the moon, about one-eighth of the moon's diameter away. It was an unusual sight.

Nice shot Tim, pretty but unusual color to the sky. I was enjoying the moonrise last night as well and noticed Mars positioned as John stated. Unfortunately I had a shovel in hand and not a camera. :frown:

Very nice Tim. It rose up here in MO also. Just a wee bit cold to get out for me, it sure was pretty though.

Beautiful contrast in the cool earth shadow and warm sky. I was on my way somewhere (besides taking moon pictures) and saw it just about the time you shot this. I'm glad you got a few photos - it was beautiful! I took some later on with Mars underneath.

Unfortunately, I've been under doctor's orders to take it easy for 3 days after my outpatient visit Friday, and wasn't able to get to Buzzard Roost. I sure thought about it though! :frown:

Hope you and the family have a Merry Christmas!
