Hi,
Could you have a look at http://www.dierenportret.be/ and let me know if the design is looking alright? It's hard to judge myself because i build everything from scratch.
There is no real content yet, its just about the design.
Thank you.

Hi Wim, I would suggest something other than white for a background and a Sans serif font for Home, Portfolio, etc. Sans serif reads better than serif on a web site.
Your design is subdued and I don't know you well enough to know if this is the image you wish to present. The type is interesting. Texture is attention-drawing.
Does the dog have significance? Are you planning on focusing on pet photos?
I didn't look at your source code but I would suggestion using divisions and layers to keep your spacing constant.
Do you have a rationale for using the two different views of the dog's head on your header?
What is your purpose for having the "1" on the Portfolio page?
Some of your flowers load slowly. You might want to consider using images with a smaller resolution so they load more quickly. If images take too long to load, you will lose your audience.
Hope my comments make sense.
Have a good holiday season.

Carol, thanks for the comments.
Thanks for the font on the header bar comment i wasn't quite sure about that.
And yes you are right, this is a website that is going to focus on pet portrait (it's a side project that i have running here). The idea for the banner is that there is going to be a rotation of around 10 animals there i have yet to finish this as you have seen that there are only 2 dogs.
yes i know that the files of the flowers are a bit large but they where just there to test my portfolio/gallery script. And when it's completely filled up there will be a number of pages there hence the "1".
Thanks again, and have a nice holiday season yourself.
Wim.

I checked your new web site and your existing web site. I prefer your existing site to the new one. I agree that white is not the best background. Darker, neutral colors help images really pop off the screen by not blinding the viewed with a white surround.
