Hi Kevin,

Nice close up , taken with a lense that is incedibly difficult to master , so very well done on holding the DOF throughout the eye.

Regards

Andy...

Hi kevin nice close-up
I have been looking at ways of getting a bit closer with my macro stuff.

I have thought about the Canon MP-E65 lens, but I have heard mixed reviews ie: you need a ring flash to get the best out of it, it is mega dark at 5X etc

What is your view ?.

thanks gary

Thats incredible magnification, looks very difficult to work at this scale! I assume the fly is dead? :-) Tristan

Cracking shot - great control of DoF. Nice to see an insect during the winter!

Gary: at x5 mag the viewfinder is VERY dark to the point that you cant see to focus unless the light is extremely bright. I tend to use a high powered LED torch to set up the focusing whenever possible. Ringflash works well but the lighting is horrible so I tend to favour a pair of 580Ex flashguns stuck out on short brackets.

Tristan: very much alive, or it was when I left it :) .
