Merry Christmas ya'll!
This was shot about 5 weeks ago. It was an area I found while exploring off the side of the highway. Cant say I enjoyed being in here withthe tide coming in and not an easily accessible exit but it was a little bit of an adrenaline pump.
I realize that it looks like there's a lot of 0 (blacks) and even some good ol blown highlights, but I think the extreme ranges work in this image...but I'd love to hear what you think.

i think you have enough detail on the right wall to match with the silhouetted rock wall on the left. the tonality of the water and sky work well together. nice shot!

This is one beautiful image and the bird just makes it even more special. I'd hang this one!

Rick, it works. Extreme range, gold/blue mix, rich color, all of it. Great capture.
Merry Christmas to you too (16 minutes left here in Ohio, although the website's server will timestamp it 30 minutes in the future).

I like the image. I especially like the fact that you left the wet rocks on the right instead of removing them with a polarizer. Adds to the wet beach scene.

Rick: It is a stunning image with a strong graphic quality. On the left is a pure black cliff with the sun just hidden. On the right is a stunning highlight on the wall with a gull that appears to be watching the sunset.

Rick, I can't say I am loving this image as it stand to be honest. If the left side with the dark wall was cropped out I would enjoy it more. My eye then pulls right to the left wall reflecting that nice sunset light. The bird on the edge of the rock is nice capture in this piece as well!
It's extreme light, but effective. Nice catching the bird; I like where it is in the frame. Pretty dangerous, Rick, but then that's obviously your "cup of tea." Keep coming back safe, will ya?

I think there's too much black. I can take the highlights though, and like the comp, color, and especially the bird!

Thanks for your input on this image! And dont worry Catherine...I'm much more of a chicken than I am brave. Maybe even a little more stupid than brave also

I like this Rick. Very dramatic, and I love the hint of the water coming in at the lower left. I agree about cropping away a bit of the left frame though as there is just a bit too much black.
Another interesting crop to focus on the lit rock face and the drama of the wave and beach, is to crop out a bit of the left, then crop the top down to just above the birds head. You lose the sky, but the contrast is very consistent througout. Regardless, beautiful image as always Rick.
