This was taken this morning at my go-to place 30 miles west of home in Hardscrabble Canyon. I got some really nice alpenglow, but the moon was out of position on those shots, so I liked this comp with a bit later light better. I cropped a little off the top, and some more off the bottom to tighten it up a bit and get rid of extraneous shadow area.

...the moon was out of position on those shots...
There is this moon positioning action in Photoshop. I think it goes something like: Selection, Copy, Paste!
Nice shot!

Really cool photo, Todd. Looks like a nice go-to place, if you ask me.
This comp flows nicely and the colors are rich - particularly for a winter image.

Todd,
I really like this shot. You obviously had more snow coverage on the rocks and trees than the Garden this AM. I was sorta surprised it was so dry. But I wanted to test out a new lens. And it had some decent color as well.
Maybe tomorrow we will get more out here.

Okay, here's one with the moon moved a little to the right. Not a lot, but I think it balances out the image better than in its previous location. This is a 4-shot stitch. I LOVE CS3's Photomerge!

Ok,
Now were talking! I love the alpen glow with the moon. And the pano really give a nice 'I feel like I'm there' kind of visual experience.
Sometimes a little PS makes a big difference. Great job.

I like both, but I think the 1st has more impact

I like the first one. Excellent!

Todd, I think both shots are beautiful - I like the detail and balance in the first one, and the graphics in the pano are outstanding. Nice work!

I like the first shot better. The light is not as good, but the comp, content, and colors are great. Thanks for sharing.

I like the first one too. I like the detail and impact of the moon. Gotta love a good pano though! Thanks, Todd!

Hey Todd--ever scramble to the top of that pyramid? I always think of doing that every time i pass it.

You and I are of a similar mind on that, Stan. I want to stand atop that pinnacle, and I want to stand in the opening of Window Rock up along Shelf Road.

I like that first one better as it's a more intimate comp. Not that the pano is all that bad itself... Nice stuff!
