This is a view of Yorkes Folley (the two towers on the hill) near Pateley Bridge, North Yorks taken at dawn this morning. Does it work for you? Thanks, Tristan

1.6 seconds, f/16, 3stop NDG.

Also - why do jpegs always lose their vibrancy in the colour red when viewed in a web browser? Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Tristan,

It works kind of for me, the famous 'its not my specialism' here but I do feel more comfortable if a little is lost from the bottom...

You have lost the 'vibrancy' because you have posted in Adobe RGB... prior to posting convert the image to sRGB, most browsers are not colour space aware and the sRGB space is the closest match to what they will display

Many thanks Phil - the colours are correct now. I can't believe I've been missing that piece of info for so long! I've also taken about 40 pixles off the bottom which improves it. Thanks, Tristan

Agree with Phil about everything...the sRGB and the bit off the bottom. Nicely done Tristan :toast:

This is the same location a couple of days earlier - great atmosphere with the fog but I'm in need of a colour image of this. Maybe worth a couple of re-visits in the future though I'm not convinced its strong enough to be worth the effort.

It works for me. Both look great but the coloured one looks better to me.
Hope I will learn landscape photography one day. This inspires me.
Well done.

Hi Tristan,

The first image is very nice but the second image is far superior , and as you say the BW image has real atmosphere.

Andy...

I really like the B&W version but to be honest not so much the colour version, although the colours in the sky are lovely. I think its the tops of the trees visible in the mid-ground that doesn't work for me. The B&W version gives more form to these and as you say gives some atmosphere that the colour version lacks.

Hi Tristan,
I have to agree with paul, the B&W is a nice image, but the colour does not work so well for me. Certainly a nice enough location to justify going back on another day though.
Tom.

This is obviously a matter of taste! Both are great, but I much prefer the colour image, mainly because the B&W image lacks detail in the distance - there's more going on for me in the first shot.

Thanks all, it was frustrating having such a superb sunrise and being in the wrong location to take full advantage of it. Looking again the B&W version is a far better image and the colour version doesnt really work.
