Great Northern Diver
Hi to all,

Great Northern Diver , photographed at Tophill Low this morning , any thoughts on the comp and sharpness would be appreciated.

This is the first image I've posted where sharpening has been applied after resizing for web use , so I'm very interested in knowing how this looks , Usm settings were as follows (150,1.0,1) x1

Canon 40D , 500F4IS , Gitzo1325 , Wimberley v2
1/500th @ F8 iso400 -1/3 E/comp

All comments welcome

Hi a nice image, but the point of focus it appears to be in the middle of its back not on its head.

Phillip.

Hi Phillip,

I was tracking the bird on Servo and the water was rather choppy so you could very well be right , this being the best shot of the day I suppose I'll have to make do.

Hi Andy, looks ok from here. A bird I've never seen so I'd be happy with this. You could always load your image into zoombrowser as I think that will show where the focal point is?? Pretty sure it does. I have shared my sharpening technique in 'articles' on my website, so you could have a look at some alternative techniques...or lok some up on the web as there's nothing revolutionary that I do :toast:

Thanks for the comments Guys.

Hi Graeme,

Just had a look at your web site , you have some superb images on there and I'll try out some of the sharpening techneques.

Cheers
