Hi,
Has anyone got an info if Wildwoods do Photography days like the BWC?

I`ve checked their website cant`t find it on there unless I`ve completely over looked it!

Brian,

According to Mike Lane's book (site 34), the owner runs specific photography days for groups at £65 or one to one sessions which I assume you have to contact him specifically about. The blokes site is www.vicsharrattwildlifeimages.com where he can be contacted.

HTH.

May/June hopefully.

I`ll give Wildwoods a call today as I don`t want to pay for a instructional photography day if I can help it!

I tried contacting them a few weeks back, but had no reply by phone or email - would be interested in hearing any news as its down my way (sort of) :wavey:

I'd be interested in that too Brian, as I'd like to do Scottish Wildcat. Would you be able to keep us posted please?

I was asked to do some photo days by Wildwood last year, but t be honest, with the setting in woodland, the light is not great.

A couple of the exhibits aren't too bad, like the Badgers and one of the two Fox enclosures but for the most part the canopy in spring/summer is pretty dense. Winter is the best time for photography.

Wildwood is a conservation and educational Trust, so Vic Sharrat is not the owner, and the keepers are more interested in the animals (as they should be) than in photographers. They do not allow access to cages where breeding programmes are under way, which is many of them including the Pine Martens! :argue:

Your best bet is to spend a day there for the price of the entrance fee (about £8 last time i looked, I don't pay as I am a Trust member.) You will get just as good images and your own choice of itinary (The Cafe's a smasher!)

If you need a guide to show you the highlights, give me a shout.

One of the Fox enclosures and the Badger sett are not too bad, but things like the Lynx and Boar are poorly lit and badly fenced from a photographers point of view. The Otter pool is abysmal, although they have managed to breed all of the BWC's new additions!!
