Fall 2007 Shots

I’ve finally gotten around to posting my fall color shots from fall trip to Colorado . This was a shot from Wilson Mesa. I was about a week early this year and missed some of the better color. I think the two best days were on the 23rd and 24th of September. It rained all day on my trip to Grand Mesa and made it difficult to do much shooting but later in the day I drove over to the Black Canyon and arrived at the end of the road just as it began to clear. The wet rock, emerging light and storm clouds made for some good shooting. The next day I went back to Grand Mesa and encountered a snow storm and some great shooting.

I did provide a major service to the folks of Colorado having cleared most of the nails off of the Kebler Pass road. I managed to get two flat tires in two days. I’ve had 7 flats in the last year but never on successive days so it was a record even for me.

Great location and thanks for the story. Sorry about the nails, I thought I'd picked them all up .
I love this ranch. I've been shooting it since 1981 when I worked a summer in Telluride. I've always had in the back of my head to do a multi-season collage, or maybe pull out the old slides and show different years. Anyway it's a classic. If you don't have the info, this is the "Schmid Ranch" a Colorado Centenial Ranch.
