I originally was adding this to my response to a thread below but it begin to take on a persona of it's own and I was afraid I was hijacking Ed's thread so I decided to start a new thread.
I noticed our Locations section / link here at SENP is sparse to say the least and hasn't been updated to include Florida. I think it would be great if as a group we could try to really make this section a must read when planning a trip into an unfamiliar area. I'm not just talking about locations in the broad sense like most of the content in there now is but information much like the excellent info Troup gave to Ed in the "Looking for FL photography guides" thread. I'm not asking for people to disclose any of their favorite secret spots but much could be written about areas without divulging too much. Again I refer you to Troup's response to Ed. This is info that could save someone a good day or more of getting familiar with an area through trial and error yet Troup didn't have to give up any secret spot in providing this info.
Maybe a model much like wikipedia where members could add to an existing article. Also I think it would help out naturephotographers.net if this info was accessible to members only. Maybe the general location link would be available to guests but one would need to login to access more detail info about a location.
Anyway just some random thoughts that maybe as a community we could build on.

I submitted several locations for Alabama months and months ago and they never showed up either.

I guess the overseeing of that and other links needs to go to someone who is still participating!
You are right, Leann. Actually, before Mike even mentioned this, I resolved to fix the whole thing. Eric S is no longer a member of NPN and will not respond if you email him with recommended content about this site.
Like I said, I have discussed this with Jim and I am going to do something about it. I just need to find the time now.

I also would like to see this and I especially like the googlemap thing, as in the Lake Jordan post a couple weeks ago (12/4). I have no idea how it was done but it seemed like a pretty neat and helpful idea.
I agree that the Locations area can be a wonderful place for us all. We have our own "home" spots that offer wonderful photography to us all. Also, I know you all have been to fabulous places on and off the beaten trail. Any of us might be traveling through someone's "special" area and make a special stop based off the data provided. I also agree that "eric@esearing.com" needs to be addressed since he is no longer here (?). Same issue is in the MEMBERS area where we are suppose to write Eric to have our names added to this spot. Looks like there is no way to get the data entered without that being changed; unless we forward it to a listed moderator who may not have the time or privilege level to do it! And Mike Poe, thanks for the kind words on my post about Ding Darling!!! Troup Nightingale

I would be happy to do the website work for SENP.
I've been doing a fair amount of HTML work for my job the past couple years and can manage adding content such as new names, new links, etc.
Richard, since you have discussed this with Jim already perhaps you can get the FTP hostname, username and password for the SENP site and I'll be happy to be a point of contact for making changes.

Matthew,
That would be great! I've sent messages to Eric but had gotten no response. Then I got busy and forgot about it.
