Sika Deer Hind
10D, 400/2.8, A-327 + 393
ISO400, 1/320 @ f4
ACR4.2 resize & sharpen CS3

Hi,

First new image for a while, have had a couple of problems.... was out Friday met up with Ian Hardy at Oare, was photographing Grey Plover and Redshank in the mud... got home every image was corrupt :frown: . went out yesterday to check things out and 2/3rds of the images on a 2gig card were corrupt, so it looks like my faithful 20D is on its last legs, mind you it has been round the clock twice

So grabbed my work back up 10D and took a trip to our local Fallow deer, hanging around with them was this Sika Hind...

Will be asking questions re 1D3 soon, I think if I give up eating I may be able to afford one....

All the best

Phil :wavey:

Very nice shot Phil.

I'd think twice about starving yourself for the frustration that comes with the Mk3. :wavey:

Great one Phil. The warm colours and the hind look great together.
You can alway buy a Nikon and have enough money left to by some fish and chips

Only kidding about the fish and chips

All the best.

Hi Phil beautiful image with a very nice BG. Do you not fancy a 40D camera? I am thinking in buying one as a back up. :toast:

Hi Phil,

Lovely image , very sharp with a very nice BG :toast:

Re - Edwin , very good fish and chip gag

Re - John and the 40D , very pleased with my 40D , can't fault it , would make an excellent replacement for the 20D.

Just goes to show it's not the camera that makes the image!

(Mind you, Edwin has got the right idea!! :wavey: )

Nice one.

Keep eating Phil, the 1D MKIII is not worth rushing out for IMHO, buy the 40D :wavey:

I also think the 40D will be a great camera. A friend of mine has one and he's very, very happy with it.
Good luck and don't rush it. There are tons of info on the internet.

LOL... It looks like I will have to pick up a 40D, will have to see how much the utility bills come to, I know I have enough (just) in reserve (or at least I hope, I recently found out how much my earnings for 2007 were down  )

I was thinking of the 1D3 for the focus calibration as my 400/2.8 does front focus appreciably and has to be tweaked manually, I guess I was looking to trying to be more lazy, but I guess it will take a lot to make me change and no matter what the camera or lens I suppose I will always tweak it after the initial AF....

So cheers looks like the 40D...

Lovely image, Phil, as usual.
As Ian says, its not the camera, more the man behind it, so perhaps I should stick with what I've got and try harder!
Best wishes

That's a lovely picture Phil. I think we get a bit hung up on hardware to some degree and I agree with Phil K. It's the guy behind the eye that has the most effect IMO.

Best sika hind image I've seen in many a while Phil :toast:

One tiny nit mate - there's a very In Focus twig/stalk by her front right leg - I'd mask that away, but that's just me being picky

Not getting involved in your gear issue as I've enough of them of my own - save to say sorry for the loss of images - that's a real gutter :frown:
