A pair of Emperor penguins (Aptenodytes forsteri) perform a courtship 'dance', Antarctica.
EOS 1Ds Mk2 / EF500mm / 1/1000s f5.6 ISO100
Just got back home a few days ago, I have been away for over 6 weeks.

Very nice image. It must have been something to be there and observe them.
"exiled in San Francisco " There can be a lot worse places to be exiled to. Where are you from?

Thanks guys!
Dan, my mum is English, my dad is Spanish... I'm confused ;-)
I moved here form Spain last year when I married my wife (she is from SF), and you are right, SF is a great place to live.

A beautiful take on these lovely creatures. Looking at this photo, I cannot help but wonder what the two are doing/thinking. Appears to be some kind of ritual.

Hi guys!
thanks for the comments.
Preston... me too but, you know... snow blizzards - That said, I do have some in sunshine with great light on the birds that I'll post later.
Anil... it is a courtship ritual that involves bowing, sky pointing and trumpeting and ends in mating
Lon... I'll try to post about it on my blog once I get my trip notes organized.
