Everglades National Park - Florida
Spent the Xmas holiday with family in Southern Florida. Drove to Everglades NP one day. Lots of opportunities for easy bird photography there. Highly recommend a visit to the Everglades as it's pretty much the antithesis of our part of the country and makes for a nice change in scenery. And a break from the cold and snow ain't bad either.

Doug,
Nice Bokeh. But that is a face only a mother could love!
Glad to hear you got to warm the bones for a while. Did you make it down to the coast for any photography? Just curious.
Looks good . Any more? BTW I have always loved vultures!

Florida is such a fun place for bird photography. I think Derek said it best - only a mother could love that face! Excellent portrait though. Nice detail and I love that rich green background.

Nice portrait, Doug - great color in the background, too.

Great portrait. The background really makes the shot.
I get to eat lunch with about a hundred of these every day.
Got to watch where you sit.

I spent part of my childhood in Key West and would head up to the Everglades with my folks sometimes. It is a very different type of scenery from here and a very cool national park. Did you venture into any of the Cyprus domes? They are very cool, though you'll probably get your feet wet.
This is an excellent portrait of the vulture.

Thanks for all the comments.
Derek - Made it to the coast one day. Got a few pics of sunset over the Gulf.
Richard - I have quite a few more pics from the Everglades, but no other pics of black vultures.
Mel - Didn't make it to any Cyprus domes. Spent all of our time on the Anhinga Trail and at Shark Valley.
