I agree, we need to be more active. There have been many new names, to me at least, and maybe they would be willing to set up some photo day trips. How about a contest on a particular subject to get the ball rolling?

A contest is a good idea. I believe we used to have "Challenges" a few years ago. They weren't really contests, but we would have a specific time frame to get some shots based on a theme, and a time limit to get them posted. I tend to need some encouragement to get out with the camera in the winter.

I too would like to see more activity in this forum!!
There are some very talented people on here!
In May of 2006 my husband and I asked to be added to the members section. We are still not listed. I also asked about the newsletter and outings section which is from 2003.
We all have a lot to offer each other and I LOVE seeing everyone's photos and I think that we can make this a great place to connect.
The NorthEast has so many photo ops and it would be great to use this space better to let each other know what is going on in our area. It is hard to know what is blooming when and what animals are active where because it is such a large region. I subscribe to various bird lists but there is no wildflower list (hehe) to know what is peaking where and when.
I have seen some of the outings offered and they looked good. I am sure that everyone is out there taking lots of great photos!
Lisa
From 5/06 when I asked to be included...
I know that ther are other NorthEast people not listed as well. Pat Brundage has some excellent photos and even won an annual award this year.
My husband and I are avid photographers currently living in Hamden, CT. We spend a lot of time shooting in CT, Maine and in the Adirondack mountains of NY. We recently joined NPN and we have a portfolio started on NPN (Cuchara). You group sounds interesting and it helps to be able to get advice from people who know the area. What do we need to do to join?
Also, is there a current newsletter or is everything via the forum now? Thank you, Lisa & Tom Cuchara
Hi Lisa. Under the Getting it Started thread a view of some of our avian shots are beginning to appear. I know you and Tom have a huge and impressive collection of avian shots. How about adding one? See you at the CAP meeting next Saturday?
Hi!! Am I happy that this is being addressed. I find I don't check this site very often because there's not much activity. I, too, have asked to be listed as a member since January of '06. I try to send a comment per post. I really enjoyed the one meeting I was able to go to and would like to attend more when my health and/or finances can dictate. If anyone finds their way to northern NH, PLEASE contact me!!!
I'm not sure how to actually spark more activity to this site but I bet it really won't take much. Definitely more posts and comments to those posts. Someone suggested posting themes.
If someone could help me out with using my scanner (NO, I'm not digital yet) I bet I'd be brave enough to start posting again.
Christine. Do you have a dedicated slide scanner or a flat bed scanner that does slides? If there is a Costco near you, they will scan your slides onto a disk... say 20 per disk for a very small fee. I have seen the results and they are well within an acceptable range.

I suggest we have a Cake Sale, With the proceeds I'll be able to buy that Nikkor 600mm VR lens. Then I'll be able to get those wildlife shots that make people say "wow!!!"
I don't bake, but I'll buy one if you hold a bake sale!

Hi everyone. I too don't visit here much due to the inactivity. I usually lurk over at RMNP. It looks like things are starting to pick up here, though, so good job!
I will start a new thread and get one of those free member maps so we can see where everyone lives. I'm way out in upstate NY so a ME outing is pretty far to drive (but I LOVE Maine!). I've organized quite a few outings in my area in the past few years. Sometimes they are very well attended and sometimes just a few show up, but we've always had fun. This is the land of lakes and waterfalls so if anyone is up for it, just say so.
Jennifer, Jim Deasy is our fearless leader and has led at least three get togethers over the last year and a half. I think it would be a great idea to head out to the Finger Lakes Region. Tell us where and when and let's see how many can attend.

Who actually runs the Northeast section of NPN?
