Painted Hills Fly By
Here's a shot from a couple of years ago I never processed. It's taken from the ridge across from the hills. Just posting for the different perspective in case you've never trudged up there.

Rick, this is different from this area; a perspective I've never seen before. This one really turns me on as I love the contrast between the green hills amidst the painted ones. Glad you posted this one from years ago!

I've thought about huffing my way up there but overcast skies have always save me the hike. The different perspective is worth the effort here Rick. :toast:

I almost walked up there yesterday, but the sun went into the clouds for good, so I swore - next time. Glad to see the perspective. The pond was frozen over with some nice reeds for the foreground, I can't wait until May when the Caenactis fill the rivluts with their bloom.

All the images posted from the PHills are making me want to get over there sooner rather than later.
What I like about this is the color, effective, but not over saturated. Many times, realistic color is as, if not more effective for my tastes than the over saturated stuff ( though I will do some of each at times!).

Nice shot Rick.

I like the balance to this composition, Rick. Nice sense of the place from up here.

Not many people see the grass that green. I like this shot but I'd try to get in tighter somewhere and get weirder.

Hey, thanks for this one. I like it! I am determined more than ever to get there this year. All you guys are killin' me with these posts!

Thanks for the comments errbody :) What's kinda wierd here is that until I looked at this image...I didnt realize there was a little set back up on the hill there. There's no real foreground element to anchor on up there on that cliff for comps...unless there's some kind of blooms up there.
I think I want just one more trip to the hills when those flowery things David was talking about come up. I got them once, but that was with the D70 and I think I can do it better next time.

Interesting combination - the combo of the snow and green grass creates a unique feel on this one; stark, but colorful.

I'd be tempted to crop up just a scoch on this one, letting the foreground hill anchor the bottom of the frame as opposed to having the snow there. That pushes my eye up farther into the scene, better appreciating the greater detail and texture up there.
