this is whale chine, home of many shipwrecks and smuggling legend, and also one of europes most important sites for fossil finding (several large dinosaurs have been found nearby over the years). a photographic study of this place was shortlisted for the turner prize some years back.
it's only ten minutes from home and from there i could see the salt haze from the high winds, and i thought this would make a half decent image with the graduations of the different cliff stages. a difficult task as the surf blows out in most of the exposures, and a tighter crop on just the cliff faces seemed to lose some drama.
i spot metred for the middle of the three closest cliffs to get the most agreeable exposure.
comments welcome.

Not sure where Whale Chine is Mark but looks to have a lot of potential. I like the idea of this image but think perhaps you should have emphasised the difference in contrast/clarity between the buttresses. Either it's not calm enough or it's not dramatic enough IMHO.

I think the subject matter looks brilliant mate
For me though, the sea would be nicer with a long exposure blur, but the sky is what lets the image down for me as all the colour of the haze is blown out.
I'd imagine this shot needs to be done with at least 3 key exposures and the results then HDRI'd in PS.
Awesome landscape though - I'm always envious of folk who leave by the sea
